About David Ladmore
David Ladmore is best known for his emotionally charged landscapes that are at once mysterious and familiar. As a child, visiting the European art galleries with his parents, he was deeply affected by the paintings of Turner. Equally important was an early love of science; a fascination with the way the universe was put together. These twin forces set him on a lifelong path of developing his own language to express the beauty and mystery of the world around him.
Born and raised in England, David is an award winning artist who works in the classical tradition. His paintings hang in corporate and private collections in Canada, the United States and Internationally. He was elected to the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour in 1997. In 1998 he received the Honour Award and A.J. Casson Medal. David works in oil, watercolour and etching. In 2013 nearly 100 of his paintings were purchased by a collector in the Victoria area forming The Swanwick Collection.
"My work is a response to the beauty and simplicity of the things I find around me. In figure and landscape, careful study reveals the undercurrents and rhythms of existence."
